I think one of the great things about working or aspiring to work in the fashion apparel industry is the large number for specialized job referral sites, recruiters, and talent search companies available to job seekers. Just having fashion career sites, such as 24Seven, fourthFloor, and StyleCareers.com, at the click of a button can take away some of the stress associated with looking for fashion work.
Many of these talent search sites not only have national reach when looking for fashion jobs, but also will lists international jobs located in global fashion cities, like London and Paris. You will, of course, need a visa to work overseas, but these can be easily obtained through the company that chooses to employ you...so you never know!
I have looked for and found work on both sides of the coast (East and now West Coast) using some of the same sites listed above. Although I still remain partial to websites that specialize in the fashion industry, like StyleCareers.com, one of my favorite fashion job resources is Indeed.com.
Indeed.com allows you to type in a key word, select your location, and then will bring up a large list of employers who fit the key word and location you choose. So for example, you could type in "fashion" and "New York" and with on quick click thousands of job opportunities would pop up for your review!
You can filter your job search by estimated salary, job title, company, and job type. In addition, you have the option of posting your resume so prospective employers can contact you directly as well as creating daily email notifications for new jobs that have been added to Indeed's extensive job search database. I have landed several interviews and job opportunities via Indeed.com...so hence why it is one of my favorite fashion job resource.
Share your thoughts....let me and the fashion commune know what's your favorite job search resource and why. Thanks for sharing!
